The Boat

Chris and Mathew’s boat will be made from composite fibre foam sandwich and is currently being built by Rossiter Yachts of Christchurch, Dorset. The boat will be equipped with a GPS (global positioning satellite) Radar reflector, DSC_0001life raft and other life saving appliances. She will accommodate Mathew and Chris comfortably, well as comfortable as you can be rowing across the Atlantic anyway! the picture to the right is of the boat taken on the 22nd of January, and is now only requiring hatches for the cabins and the decks, anti foul, and the rowing positions before she can fitted out with the electrical gubbins.

Specification

Composite -moulded fibre-glass foam sandwich hull with carbon cabins. The cabins are fully enclosed carbon fibre, they have watertight hatches for adverse weather conditions which is also important in the likely event of a capsize! This helps to keep the boats self righting abilities.

Rowing and Sleeping Positions

There are two positions for rowing so that both Mathew and Chris can row at the same time if they feel they’re missing each other!! The cabins are snug and comfortable. The set up of the rowing positions allows for the rower to be stood up or sat down, so in the event of bad weather the rower can maintain a more stable position.
