So why the Atlantic Rowing challenge? What has driven us to undertake such an extreme challenge? We both want to raise money and awareness for a charity, and in doing this we want to achieve something extreme that tests us to the limit so what better challenge than the longest toughest rowing challenge on earth! We love the water. Plus we shared the same bedroom as children so why not share the same boat!

About: Mathew is a former Royal Marine who now works as a Marine Security Advisor for an oil company. He joined the Royal Marines at the age of 17. After six years  service, he finished and gained a job working on search and rescue boats in the North Sea. Mathew is now 26 years old and as fit as a fiddle and looking forward to the challenge. About: Christian is also a former Royal Marine who now works as a Ships Safety Officer for a shipping company. He joined the Royal Marines at 17 on completion of a 9 and half years of service he went to become asearch and rescue boat commander in the North Sea. Christian is as fit as a butcher’s dog and looking forward to the challenge.
Qualifications: Yachtmaster Ocean shorebased, offshore powerboat, sea survival and ships fire fighting, GMDSS Short range certificate, First Aid assistant medical course. Port facility security officer. Qualifications: Yachtmaster Offshore Commercial, Yachtmaster Ocean shorebased certificate, Coastal Skipper Commercial endorsment. GMDSS General Operators Certificate, Sea Survival and Ships Fire fighting, First Aid assistant medical course. Port faciltiy security officer, NEBOSH National General Certificate.

Achievements: Climbed for Royal Marines, an extra in Spooks! Played rugby at representative level for the Royal Marines.

Achievements: Played rugby for the Royal Navy, Marines and combined services. Being the father of two wonderful children. An extra in the film 28 Weeks Later! Don’t blink though, you’ll miss it! Extra in the film ‘Mutant Chronicles’ (Blink, you’ll want to miss it!)
Hobbies: Climbing, kayaking, swimming, weightlifting and fitness, skiing, surfing, diving, rugby and most sports of a waterborne nature. Hobbies: Enjoys sports such as kayaking, weightlifting and fitness, rugby, climbing, skiing and most sports of a water borne nature.
What Mathew will miss about home: His girlfriend Colleen, his bike and the pub! What Chris will miss about home: Donna and the kids Jordan, Joshua and Lewis also not forgetting the dog!

What is Mathew looking forward to: The adventure, sunsets and sunrises and the wildlife. The chance to annoy his brother constantly for the best part of 60 days! What is Chris looking forward to: The adventure of course! The dark, quiet and rough seas! The wildlife, reaching Antigua and being with his little brother. (And after being with his brother for so long in a boat, going home!)
